December E-Gram: The Power of Hope in 2017

THANK YOU for an inspiring and impactful 2017! Your trust and support helped Hope for Haiti make a positive impact in the lives of more than 500,000 children, parents, and grandparents living in southern Haiti through investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, water, and economy.

I want to thank our loyal volunteers, donors, partners and friends for sharing our audacious belief that despite the numerous challenges people face in Haiti, there is always a pathway to a better life. It’s because of YOU that our work is possible.

Here are some highlights of the impact of your support in 2017:

  • In Education, 7,000 students received a quality education, and we watched with pride as one of our partner communities graduated its first ever high school class. To learn more about Hope for Haiti’s sustainable communities program model click HERE.
  • In Healthcare, more than 13,000 people received care at Hope for Haiti’s Infirmary St. Etienne, and we sent our team of Haitian doctors and nurses all across the countryside to run mobile clinics, promote public health and hygiene, and tackle chronic diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease. To support these efforts and the work of our healthcare partners, Hope for Haiti imported and distributed more than $21 million in medical supplies, medication, and medical equipment.

  • In Infrastructure, a local team of construction workers made critical repairs to buildings, roads, schools, sanitation blocks, and homes following the devastation of Hurricane Matthew last year. To learn more about Hope for Haiti’s response to Hurricane Matthew, click HERE.

  • In Water, our strategy for helping people access clean water shifted to supplying and training our Haitian partners on the use of Sawyer Filtration Systems. We’ve found these systems easy to use, extremely effective, and cost efficient. This year, we distributed 2,000 Sawyer Filtration Systems to families in five communities in rural Haiti. • In Economy, we made strategic loans and grants to support Haitian entrepreneurs and business. Our portfolio has grown to include investments in a trade school, a cherry tree farmer, hot sauce and condiment production, a sanitation company, and a community revitalization cooperative.

We are extremely proud that in 2017, Hope for Haiti was awarded the highest rating of 4 stars by Charity Navigator, and we also received GuideStar’s Platinum Seal of Transparency. We have never been more committed to be responsible stewards of our resources, and we are determined to maximize the impact of your gifts to Hope for Haiti.

If you’d like to make a tax-deductible gift before the end of the year, there’s still time! A gift of any amount is greatly appreciated and will make a big difference in helping us achieve our mission.

On behalf of all of our 50-plus Hope for Haiti team members and board of directors, Mesi Anpil! (Thank You!)
