Hike for Haiti #MACChallenge
Can you imagine climbing 200 flights of stairs every day to go to school? In the rural community of Marre à Coiffe, Haiti, students and families climb the equivalent of 200 flights of stairs from the bottom of the mountain in order to access clean water, healthcare, and an education.
We’re excited to invite you to participate in our new event: the #MACChallenge, named in honor of Marre à Coiffe, and challenge YOU to virtually hike the mountain in solidarity with the community to help raise funds to provide the students there with vital back-to-school supplies. We will also be taking a group of supporters who each fundraise $3,000 to Haiti with us this September 15-18 to do the actual hike in person. Please join us!
Here’s How it Works:
- Register today, and encourage friends and family to join you. Your $30 registration fee is 100% tax-deductible and supports the back-to-school program.
- Climb 200 flights of stairs over the weekend of May 10-12. You can make the climb anywhere – whether in your home, at your gym on a step machine, or out in nature! If you don’t have access to stairs, you can walk or run 22,000 steps (approx. 10.5 miles). You can also choose to register as a team and split up the distance!
- Share your results on social media using #MACChallenge and tagging @hopeforhaitifl for a chance to win prizes. We’ll also be sharing your pictures and videos on our social media accounts throughout the weekend!
If you can’t hike yourself, please consider making a donation or encouraging friends and family to hike. Not having school supplies is a major prohibiting factor in students’ ability to show up on the first day of school ready to learn, and you can help change that by taking the #MACChallenge!
