Naples, FL, April 20, 2020 – Hope for Haiti announced today that it has joined the #cryptoCOVID19 Alliance put together by cryptocurrency platform The Giving Block. “We’re excited to have Hope for Haiti joining the #cryptoCOVID19 Alliance, supporting their work to protect vulnerable families in Haiti impacted by COVID-19,” said Giving Block Co-Founder Pat Duffy.
Hope for Haiti began accepting donations in the form of cryptocurrency in late 2019. Because cryptocurrency donations are treated like stocks, the organization immediately sells the donation once it’s received. “This allows us to receive the financial value intended by the donor at the time of the donation, avoiding volatility in the market and makes it easy to put funds to use immediately to support our mission in Haiti, rather than maintaining them as an investment for the future,” said Hope for Haiti CEO Skyler Badenoch. “As one of the most transparent and accountable organizations working in Haiti, we’re excited to join the #cryptoCOVID19 Alliance and give our supporters this additional avenue to make immediate and impactful investments in health and education for children, parents and grandparents in our partner communities.”
Donations made to Hope for Haiti through #cryptoCOVID19 will benefit Hope for Haiti’s COVID-19 response through the Hike for Haiti Challenge. It is in Hope for Haiti partner schools where families and students receive public health support through proper hygiene education that can reduce illness and the spread of disease. Funds raised from the Hike for Haiti Challenge will directly benefit Hope for Haiti’s education and public health work in their partner communities in line with their COVID-19 Action Plan.
