Meet Dachney Pierre

When you first meet Dachney, 37, you see a vibrant woman always with a smile on her face. Dachney first came to our office in the summer of 2019. As most entrepreneurs do, she brought along with her samples of the products that her women’s group (ATPLS) put together. Their products include chanm chanm, peanut butter, Cassave, Jam, cookies to name a few. She spoke with confidence, and before you can even try the products, Dacheney had made you believe in their products as well.

Dacheny is the coordinator of ATPLS which formed in Bergaud in 2016. She was born in Carrefour but raised in Les Cayes. Her passion and goal are to tackle the food insecurity issue in the south and open a “Mache Kreyol,” an all Haitian product market. Dacheney believes in the importance of farming and producing locally and has made it her life’s mission to help women entrepreneurs through this avenue.

ATPLS received a grant/loan hybrid from HFH in March 2020. Through this funding, they were able to purchase all of the equipment the women would need which included, stoves, grinders, and pots. Unfortunately, on August 14th, 2021 their building collapsed and they lost everything, including six members of ATPLS. They are currently working to get back on their feet and would like to partner with schools in the southern region with canteen programs to provide the ingredients necessary. Additionally, they have already partnered with HFH and sold over 5,000 of their products for food distribution.

“There are no words to describe how thankful I am that HFH decided to take a chance on us. I do not know of any institute in the South that supports the Haitian people the way HFH does. The best thing I can do right now is promote HFH and the good they are doing.”
