November E-Gram: The Power of a Meal

Manilia Beauvil has been the head cook at the Tete Source school lunch program since it was founded in 2012. Manilia is a proud mother of three who wakes up at 4:00 am every day to get her children ready to go to school, and she is determined to give them the best possible life. All of her children have attended Tete Source school, and Manilia doesn’t believe she would’ve been able to educate her children if the school had not been in the community.

Through Hope for Haiti’s school lunch program, Manilia was given the opportunity to earn a monthly salary — and thanks to that salary, she can send her children to school. In addition, she and her children have access to  a nutritious meal every day, relieving her of the enormous challenges of putting food on her table. Manilia tells us that the meals provided through the school lunch program motivate all the children at the school to learn and improve their school performance, and for that she is thankful.
