Dear Hope for Haiti Family,
Over the last three months, our team has continued its work to alleviate poverty in rural southern Haiti by taking a holistic approach. Our Education, Healthcare, WASH, and Economic Development programs work hand-in-hand to create a pathway to a better life for the children, parents, and grandparents we serve.
Here are some highlights from our team’s accomplishments this quarter:
- Purchased 6,880 textbooks (Kreyol and French reading and writing books) and distributed them 3,500 1st-6th grade students in 21 partner schools.
- Reached 90% completion on the construction of the new primary school in Baradères.
- Partnered with 300 farmers from Tête Source, Ravine Sable, and Cammy to teach best practices in cultivating peanuts and vegetables through our project with Acceso.
- Conducted 14,031 medical consultations and administered 895 vaccines (pediatric and COVID-19).
- Consulted with the parents of 2,348 children regarding nutrition and treated 327 malnourished children through a new collaborative program between WASH and Community Health.
- Provided financial literacy training for 108 students in the rural south.
- Awarded another grant from the Ocean Freight Reimbursement Program (USAID) to support the shipping of gifts-in-kind, and ended the first quarter with $2.3 million in Gift-In-Kind, which consists of medical supplies, medications, sanitary equipment, and personal protective equipment.
- Expanded partnership with Airlink, Inc. and formed a new partnership with Insulin for Life USA , which will be paramount for both receiving and transporting medication.
Your continued support and advocacy help make this life-changing work possible every day. On behalf of all of us at Hope for Haiti, mesi anpil (thank you)!
