How a Life of Philanthropy Led Genevieve Paul to Hope for Haiti

By November 2, 2026No Comments

Giving back is part of who Genevieve Paul is. Now a professional fundraiser and a member of Hope for Haiti’s Board of Directors, Genevieve has been working to help others for as long as she can remember.

“I get that from my mom,” Genevieve said. “She’s such a giver.”

Genevieve grew up in Miami, Florida, after her parents, who are both from Les Cayes, Haiti, moved there. She studied finance and marketing at the University of Miami and realized early in her career that if she was going to be working hard, she wanted it to be for an important cause.

Since then, Genevieve has made her passion for philanthropy her career and worked for nonprofits in environmental protection, healthcare access, and economic justice. In 2020, Genevieve’s family friend Kettianne Daros, MBA, joined the Board of Directors at Hope for Haiti.

“She called me – I don’t know what prompted her – and said, ‘I think you need to join the Board,’” said Genevieve. “I talked to Skyler [Hope for Haiti’s CEO], and I was interested, but early in the pandemic, it just wasn’t great timing.”

Genevieve continued to see Kettianne’s posts about Hope for Haiti and loved that the clinic and office are located in Les Cayes, where her family is from. Then, in 2023, she became a board member and a member of the Development Committee.

“It hits so close to home for me, with the team being based in Les Cayes,” said Genevieve. “It feels like, by serving on the board, it’s my way of giving back to where my family is from, and protecting its future.”

While Les Cayes was the initial draw for Genevieve, the impact of Hope for Haiti’s programs and the innovative fundraising methods have kept her inspired and engaged over the past three years; for example, the early adoption of accepting cryptocurrency donations and the ambitious fundraising and development goals the team is working toward.

“I love that Hope for Haiti will try new things to see what works, while still using the tried-and-true fundraising methods,” said Genevieve. “I’m proud to be part of working toward these big goals.”

Transparency and trust are other major factors in why Genevieve feels strongly about supporting Hope for Haiti. With more than 15 consecutive years of being a top-rated organization by Charity Navigator, and the measurable impact the program teams make in the field, supporters can feel confident their donations to Hope for Haiti make a difference.

As a proud Haitian American and a lifelong philanthropist, Genevieve is a fantastic fit for Hope for Haiti’s board of directors.

“When I mention Haiti, everyone thinks of Port-au-Prince automatically. But I want them to know there’s this cute town in the south of Haiti where they’re doing important work, and it’s worth investing in it,” said Genevieve.
