Naples Daily News- Hurricane turns more toward Florida before Haiti hit

Gov. Rick Scott declared a state of emergency Monday across Florida as Hurricane Matthew’s path veered more to the west, but many hearts and minds in Naples turned to Haiti.
“We just have to pray that it’s not going to be as bad as it looks,” said Michael Gay, a Haitian native who splits his time between Naples and Haiti. “Generally, the worst place for storms is right there in that southwest corner of Haiti. I’ve been talking with some family and my office down there, and people are pretty much waiting and doing what they can.”
