News 8- Connecticut volunteers head to Haiti for hurricane relief

STRATFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — As the nation of Haiti continues to recover from Hurricane Matthew, volunteers from Connecticut are preparing to head to the island nation.
Many of the storm victims require medicines that are not available to them. ‘Hope for Haiti,’ one of Americare’s teams, is bringing down a team of 50 people along with medicines to distribute to the victims.

“We are bringing down medications, about 1,000 pounds of medications, needed for the disaster response from Hurricane Matthew, to Les Cayes. It’s the largest city in the south where a majority of partners for ‘Hope for Haiti’ exists,” said volunteer Mike Stewart.

Depending on the need, the teams could be there anywhere from a couple of days to a few weeks.
