Healthcare Program Milestones
It’s been a big couple of weeks for our Healthcare team!
First, in case you missed it, our team surpassed their goal to conduct 5,000 diabetes screenings in November, in correspondence with World Diabetes Day on November 14. Because this year’s theme was “Diabetes and the Workplace,” our Public Health team members coordinated with local businesses and government buildings in Les Cayes to offer free screenings for employees right at work, while our Infirmary St. Etienne also offered screenings to patients.
On December 1, we marked World AIDS Day, a moment to honor the lives lost, stand in solidarity with those living with HIV, and reaffirm our commitment to breaking down stigma and barriers to lifesaving education, prevention, and treatment.
Our team continues raising awareness and educating communities about HIV/AIDS throughout all Public Health activities, especially throughout December.
Finally, thanks to YOUR generosity, more than $97,000 has been raised in support of healthcare access through our Fund the Frontline campaign! We’re getting closer to our goal of $250,000 by the end of 2025. Donate before December 31 to automatically double your impact with our gift-matching fund!

Parents Participate in Education Workshops
Our Education team hosted parent workshops in Morency, Cammy, and Boisrond in November to enable parents to reflect collectively on their role as their children’s first educators and to discuss practical strategies to support academic success at home.
Rosemond, who was voted president of the parent committee in Morency, expressed his joy and commitment following the workshop session, saying:
“I am happy to dedicate my time and commitment to serving the school and actively contributing to the education of our children. I have always believed that a school cannot truly succeed without the active involvement of parents. This morning’s training reminded us how crucial our support can be in driving the school’s progress.”

Supporting Hygiene & Healthy Habits
Thanks to our Gift-In-Kind partners, our team has been hard at work distributing hygiene kits to students and community members in our partner communities. Each kit includes 2 bars of soap, a bottle of shampoo, a towel, a comb, a toothbrush holder, and 2 toothbrushes. These recent kits each have an additional element: a JuniorBuddy light (pictured below), provided by SolarBuddy, allowing the recipient to have reliable access to a light source while studying, working, reading, or whatever they need it for.
