Micro-Clinics in Les Cayes
Our Healthcare team has continued to serve the community, despite the obstacles that arose earlier this month. During a particularly volatile period of unrest in Les Cayes, barricades inhibited many people from moving freely throughout the region. In collaboration with generous community members, our Healthcare team hosted micro-clinics for individuals in residential areas. This meant that patient care, especially for those with chronic illnesses, wasn’t interrupted. Our team was able to provide consultations and medications for more than 100 patients each day.

Updates in the Community of Tête l’Etang
Our Education and WASH teams collaborated last week in Tête l’Etang on a training session about balanced nutrition and hygiene for the small shopkeepers involved in the school canteen program. Ongoing education opportunities like this seek to continuously improve the quality and safety standards of the meals provided to students in our partner schools.
Additionally, Hope for Haiti Infrastructure Coordinator Kens Valbrun traveled with the team to check on the construction of the new primary school in the community, which is progressing nicely.
Future Female Entrepreneurs Excel
Financial Literacy Trainer Rodney Jean Denis continued leading entrepreneurship training with second-year students from Saint Laurent Middle School. These sessions aim to equip these young women with the skills to successfully manage their own small- to medium-sized business endeavors in the future.
Mark Your Calendar for the Annual Hike for Haiti
Can you imagine climbing 200 flights of stairs every day to get to school? In the rural community of Marre à Coiffe, Haiti, students, and families climb a mountain the equivalent of 200 flights of stairs — roughly 10.5 miles — to access clean water, healthcare, and an education.
Now in its sixth year, the Hike for Haiti celebrates the commitment of this community by engaging people around the world to hike in solidarity with the students of Marre à Coiffe.
The month-long campaign, with in-person activations across the U.S. and virtually around the world, raises funds to support access to education for students across Hope for Haiti’s 24 partner communities, as well as college scholarships.
